COLD FRONT IN WARM ADVECTION - WEATHER EVENTS

In comparison to other types of cold fronts, the CF in WA has less precipitation than classical Cold Fronts. Very weak fronts are more frequent than with the other types and very severe weather events are less frequent.

  • Falls slowly after the passage of the surface front

  • Veering of the wind at the front passage

  • Quite often an inactive front in terms of precipitation and cloudiness (= 1/3 of cases)
  • Risk of moderate icing
  • Small risks of thunderstorms
  • Sometimes front only consists of low cloudiness
  • Less precipitation than in a classical Cold Front
