The example shows a typical Foehn situation in the region of the Alps. The substructure in the frontal cloud band caused by a Foehn process consists of a lower cloud field South of the Alps representing Stau cloud, a cloudfree wedge in the mountains and a bright high cloud with a sharp edge at or immediately north of the Alps representing high lee cloud.
