| The Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU)-A radiance temperature (K) dataset contains brightness temperatures converted from measured radiances for the fifteen AMSU-A sounder channels and is used to derive quantitative products including atmospheric temperature soundings, moisture soundings, ozone concentrations, as well as Microwave Surface and Precipitation Processing (MSPPS) products such as rain rate, snow cover, cloud liquid water, and total precipitable water. Four sets of AMSU-A radiance temperature values are available. Two sets correspond to calibrated and calibrated plus limb-adjusted measurements at the AMSU field-of-view (FOV) and the other two sets correspond to measurements interpolated to the specific High-Resolution Infrared Radiation Sounder (HIRS) FOV used to retrieve sounding products at each sounding location. |
