The High-Resolution Infrared Radiation Sounder (HIRS)/3 radiance temperature (K) dataset contains brightness temperatures converted from measured radiances for the twenty HIRS/3 sounder channels and is used to derive quantitative products including outgoing longwave radiation, total ozone, and soundings. Four sets of HIRS radiance temperature values are available. Two sets correspond to calibrated and calibrated plus limb-adjusted measurements for each HIRS field-of-view (FOV) and the other two correspond to measurements at each sounding location. Recall that soundings are retrieved for only one in four HIRS FOVs so that the second two sets of values are a subset of the first.
