A single POES orbit is completed about every 104 minutes. A single polar satellite provides complete global coverage every 12 hours, averaging two observations daily for most locations on the earth. The frequency of observations is highest in the polar regions (as often as every two hours). A two-polar satellite configuration with a six-hour offset (as typically operated by NOAA) provides complete global coverage every six hours.
