· All POES sounder data are defined at the HIRS FOV. One HIRS FOV per 2 x 2 array of HIRS FOVs is selected to compute soundings, resulting in a horizontal spacing of about 40 km at the nadir scan position, and 120 km at the edge of the scan (limb).
· The range of spacings possible across the scan is about 20 to 150 km, with an average spacing of about 60 km.
· About 10,000 soundings are produced per orbit, per satellite.
