Fog viewed with the 13.3 Micron Channel

This image shows fog viewed with the GOES-12 13.3 micron carbon dioxide channel

• Fog difficult to discriminate due to significant bightness temperature contribution from CO2 emission
• Brightness temperature change relative to longwave infrared window useful for determining cloud-top pressure
• Daytime fog is best depicted in visible
• Nighttime fog is best depicted in fog/stratus product
