Welcome to:
Polar Satellite Products for the Operational Forecaster
Module 1: POES Introduction and Background
(Version 1.1, August 2001)

How to Begin

To begin, select a menu item from the menu bar along the left side of the screen. When you do so, a page box may appear below the menu items if there is more than one page under that menu item. Click the Page Buttons to display the individual pages of this module.

If this is your first visit to this page, please wait until this page downloads fully before continuing. This will ensure that the menu bar functions properly.

Use the POES logo at the top of the menu bar to return to this module's home page.

To navigate to another Web site, always return to the POES Home Page first. In some browsers, navigating outside the site from within the module may leave you without a scroll bar.

This site uses frames!

Because this site uses frames, avoid using the Back and Forward functions of your browser. You should only use the menu bar or the site map to navigate between pages and sections.

Cache settings:

It is strongly suggested that you empty your cache and set the cache size to at least 10 MB or more. This will help the graphics to display properly. In Netscape, use the Edit menu and select Preferences, Advanced, Cache. In Internet Explorer, use the Tools menu and select Internet Options, General, Temporary Internet Files, Settings.

Important Information for Viewing this Module
