A four-panel graphic highlighting airmass differences and nighttime cooling either side of a dryline using the GOES-8 10.7 micron longwave infrared channel

In this four-panel image, the diurnal temperature swing in dry air is greater than in moist air, making the location of the dry line apparent. Notice in the bottom panels, that the colder surface temperatures occur to the west of the dry line after sunset where clear dry air allows for rapid diurnal cooling.
